As the recession
continues to bite there is very little evidence of any light at the end of the
tunnel. The government doesn’t seem to be having much of an impact; the banks
are not helping, in fact they are making things very much worse; larger and
medium sized suppliers are still preoccupied with maximising their profit; so do
we have any basis for optimism?
Three of the major issues facing
business today are the availability of finance; getting quality and value from
their suppliers; and finding people they can trust, all of which can be
disablers. They need to find ways of making their finances go further without
the products and services provided to them being compromised however making any
change is difficult if they lack trust, especially when there are so many good
reasons not to trust anyone.
Although this is open to debate it
is very likely the recovery will be lead by the small business and freelance
community who generally still believe in concepts like value for money,
cost-conscious quality, professionalism, and integrity and can still offer
end-user businesses real practical solutions at a very reasonable price. Access
to this market by business is limited firstly by their inability to trust but
also because we are hard to find and that has to change.
The owners of small businesses and
individuals who work as freelancers, sole practitioners, or independents are
typically very experienced and highly skilled people and whatever big business
says they are much more likely to produce better solutions, certainly more
appropriate and timely ones and be less expensive, you can also add flexibility
and continuity of supply into the proposition. So why aren’t they knocking our
doors down and asking for our help and what can we do about it?
The Freelance
Experience...
The Freelance
Experience is a coalition of small businesses who believe in quality and value
and who ‘want to make a difference’. Put very simply they believe in doing a
‘good job at a fair price’.
With the cost of
finance being so high businesses need to find imaginative and innovative ways of
getting more out of what they already have and when they do spend they need to
make sure they get value for their money without compromising the products and
services they receive. Some businesses do use suppliers who might be considered
as small businesses but most don't and this has to change because this is where
you are most likely to get cost-conscious quality, value for money, high levels
of professionalism and non-compromised products and services - typically more
for less. Your problem has been two-fold, firstly finding these small businesses
and then being able to trust them and that is why The Freelance Experience was
founded.
The key element is the centralised
directory, held within The Freelance Experience’s
website, where businesses can look for businesses/members to service their
requirements. The directory can be considered as a broad index to the
membership, a centralised gateway if you will. We want to believe all our
members are worthy of your trust and do our best to maintain a high level of
integrity within the membership however this can never be absolutely guaranteed
however members can and will be removed from the directory if their level drops.
The directory includes a hyperlink
to the member's own website in most cases where you can get more information
about them but if you do have a specific requirement and you want us to help you
find someone to service it then please contact us
and we will try to help.
If you are a small business which
provides business products or professional services or just want to see if you
might benefit from joining you can find more details on the
Membership page.
